Shredded Apple & Cinnamon Oatmeal

The very best part of the approaching chillier weather is that we get to enjoy warm comfort food. This Shaved Apple & Cinnamon Oatmeal is an autumn favourite, but to be honest, this recipe is a favourite year-round.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup of rolled oats or minute oats

1 tsp brown sugar

No more than 1/8 tsp of cinnamon (it depends on
your preference) 

A pinch of salt

1/4 cup of milk

1/2 cup of water

Half of an apple (shredded)

2 teaspoons of maple syrup





Directions:

1. If you prefer the shredded apples to be on the crunchy side, you may skip this step and add the shredded apples in later. Otherwise, to soften the apples, put in a saucepan and cook on medium heat until they have softened a little

2. Add the oats followed by the water the milk. Stir a few times until well combined.

3. Mix in the salt, the cinnamon and the brown sugar. Add in the shredded apples if you skipped step 1.

4. Let cook until thickened and bubbly.

5. To serve, drizzle approximately 2 teaspoons of maple syrup over the oatmeal and top with a pinch of brown sugar and cinnamon.
